Firm Emphasis and Work Experience
The primary focus of this firm is to help people work through difficult times by providing sound legal advice and zealous advocacy. The primary areas of practice I regularly take cases in are Divorce Law, Family Law, Criminal Defense, and Personal Injury. However, I am open to new areas of practice if the right case and client present themselves.

My firm was opened in January 2008. Prior to that, I spent my entire legal career as both a paralegal, law clerk, and attorney (14 years in all) working in both the public and private sector.

I started out as a paralegal in 1993, and worked in that capacity until my last year of law school until 1997. As a paralegal, I worked mainly in complex asbestos litigation and personal injury defense cases. Starting in late 1997 I worked for 6 months as a law clerk for the California State Public Defender assisting in the presentation of death penalty appeals. Starting in late 1998 I worked for 1 year a law clerk for the Sacramento County Public Defender, Major Crimes Division. I assisted the trial attorneys with the preparation and completion of serious crimes (murder, bank robbery, etc.).

After graduating from McGeorge School of Law in 1999, I worked for 1 year with the Nevada Supreme Court as a Criminal Staff Attorney. Working with the justices, I provided counsel and the writing of opinions and orders in response to various appeals from the conviction of all types of crimes.

In 2000, I went to work for a small private firm. I handled all types of cases as in the areas of criminal defense and personal injury (plaintiff’s work).

In 2004 I worked for 1 year with a firm doing defense work in elder abuse cases , product liability, and personal injury.

In 2005, I started with another small firm and worked for 2 ½ years doing mostly divorce and family law.

Throughout my career I have regularly performed pro bono work, and for the last 3 years have volunteered my time assisting the Family Law Court in Sacramento County with the handling and processing of self-representated litigants seeking the adjudication of divorce and other family law cases.
